I ran over something on the interstate this morning while driving to catch a 6:30 am flight. Hopefully she’s still there tomorrow when I go back and try to deal with the flat (and whatever else is wrong).

Ahh, why does crap like that always happen at the wrong time. My last business trip my water heater started to leak 2 days before I was suppose to leave.

Where did you park? That’ll usually determine how long it can sit. If on the side of a road, cops will usually give you at least 24 hours (starting at the time they find it). If in a parking lot, chances are your car may not even be noticed until you get back.

I think I would call for a flat tow to the nearest tire shop. At least you will only have to pay for the tow at regular price.

Ugh that happened to me once. Was fighting bay area rush hour traffic trying to get to SFO to fly to Vegas for the weekend…and a few miles out in bumper to bumper traffic my E30 started running super rough and bogging down. I somehow got off the freeway and on to some industrial road, and just left it on the side of the road next to a building. Was so worried for it all weekend and on the way back, but thankfully the car was still there when I got back. The tow (well had AAA so didn’t really matter) and repair didn’t hurt so bad given that I won a few hundred bucks at the roulette table before my flight home.

Moral of the story – go gambling if it’s legal (or not?) where you’re travelling, or at least buy a lottery ticket.

That reminds me. I drove over a stone on holiday in Italy. Went to change the wheel. No spare. Went to spray in the repair gunk. Hole in tyre too large.

Cost me about €500 between new tyre, new wheel and tow. Yes, the small print exc ludes punctures.

If I had turned the other way off the interstate I’d be parked in the lot for a tire place. I may try to pump it up a bit and see if I can limp there but otherwise that’s the plan.

I had originally parked in a bank parking lot because it was well-lit but there were 24/7 tow signs so I moved across the street! I’m in front of a bunch of trucks though, so that street looks like it might be ok.

I’m g rumpiest because I hate the wheels on this car, but it’s not really a great time to buy a new set. Which means I’m locked into this size until the next set of tires wear out.

I mean, I have like 3-4 inches of clearance and may have run over a ladder, though I was going too quick to see.

I’m back in Denver tonight so I should be able to get there tomorrow morning for a rescue. No one is making it too far on that tire  and if they put it on a flatbed I’ll just cry that my good sleeping bag is gone while I’m calling my insurance. I appreciate it though :)

Oo o.....may not be good if that’s the case. Maybe get it flatbedded somewhere? If it hit the oil pan and dented it it might’ve dented the pickup within or something, and the engine may not get oil properly. I’d take it somewhere to get it checked maybe before you try driving it if you think it was something that large...

Alright there’s a shop a half mile away who will take a look if I can limp it there, though he says they don’t specialize in Fiats. Then he continued to tell me he works on some guys 911 and that dude dropped of his 500e, so...(edited to add, I want to meet the person who made those life choices)

I’m like, if you can get it on a lift and reassure me that it’s driveable, I can deal with body damage somewhere else. No one can get parts for the damn things :)

Guess it’s just not a good day for Abarths. I cut a corner too sharply in the and curbed by wheel pretty good and damaged the tire.

You know, that totally, absolutely sucks but I really appreciate you telling me. I’ve had like 4 hours at the airport to dwell on my stupidity and just what a (expensive)  pain in the ass this is going to be. It helped pull me out of my own head a bit. So thank you.

No problem. Misery  loves company, glad I could help. I had pretty much decided on getting new, smaller wheels anyways it just sucks that the decision has kinda been made for me. The alignment seemed off too so I'm hoping nothing too expensive broke under there.

Hah. I ended up with 16s after a bent wheel about a year and a half ago and I hate them. They’re alright for the snow tires  but I want 17s for summer again.
